Camille Seghers, Alexis Thibaut de Maisières - T'as voulu voir Jacques Brel et on a vu… (2026) Hi-Res

Second album by Camille Seghers and Alexis Thibaut de Maisières for Paraty, this project starts from a reflection on the way Jacques Brel composed with his musicians, starting from a musical impulse, a motive, a rhythm. Against this process, Alexis Thibaut de Maisières, pianist and arranger of the project, proposes to bring forward, from Brel's songs, the musical sources that could have nourished them. Initially imagined as a series of small "bis", these arrangements developed over the concerts to form a cycle. Each song relies on one or more classical works as an arrangement material. Considered the keystone of the project, Les Désespérés — linked to the story of the Concerto en G by Ravel and Gérard Jouannest, pianist of Brel — is approached with particular fidelity to its original composition, while Amsterdam is conceived as a small sequel for solo cello. Supported by Camille Seghers' cello and Alexis Thibaut de Maisières' piano, the project makes Brel's work heard without imitation, focusing on instrumental expressiveness.
