This book has been written for the modern-day nursing students who often wonder "How much pathology I should know?" Pathology is an ever-increasing subject where not only the postgraduate medical students but also teachers, who have been teaching for more than 20 years, find it difficult to keep up. The student, who will be working mainly in hospital wards, clinics, and treatment rooms, must have the basic knowledge of pathology to be able to understand the reason for various tests being ordered by the doctors, their methods of sample collection, how these tests are performed, and how to interpret their reports.

In this book we have tried to cover the pathologic basis of various diseases, common systemic diseases encountered, and basic pathological techniques. The students will not require a separate practical manual for reference along with this book. After reading this book, the students should be able not only to understand the disease processes but also to perform well in their examinations.

Each chapter begins with learning objectives, followed by key terms. A reasoned explanation has been included about all diseases in the main text. This body text is followed by multiple-choice, short-answer, and long-answer questions, which will help students in preparing for their respective examinations.
