The Magic Drum Orchestra began as a 20+ piece percussion group led by Glyn Bush and Ralph Cree, covering a wide range of styles including batucada, samba, funk, hip hop drum & bass, dubstep, afrobeat – fusing traditional styles with modern dance beats.
Between 2005 and 2015 the band made regular appearances at UK festivals such as the Big Chill, Festinho, Larmer Tree, WOMAD, Cloud Cuckoo Land, Dorchester Arts Festival as well as club gigs up and down the country, street festivals, parties and parades.
In 2013 MDO signed to Tru Thoughts and released their first album “MDO” in 2014.
The follow up album “The DNA of Rhythm” is out on 29 June, featuring a whole host of grooves, head-spinning cover versions, a plethora of percussion and some amazing beats, from jungle to hip hop, GQOM to dub, samba to electro - all produced by Glyn Bigga Bush.
