A "Cosmic Egg" – in which the universe, or some primordial being comes into existence by the hatching of an egg – is found in the creation myths of many cultures. Why is this concept so pervasive throughout the world? Clues to the origin of the Cosmic Egg may lie in another symbol commonly paired with the egg – the symbol of intertwined snakes – which some believe represents ancient knowledge of the DNA double-helix spiral. Did our ancestors have advanced insight into human biological coding? And could the Cosmic Egg represent, not the cosmos or the gods, but our own creation and genetic manipulation?

Eight hundred German filmmakers (cast and crew) fled the Nazis in the 1930s. The film uses voice-overs, archival footage, and film clips to examine Berlin's vital filmmaking in the 1920s; then it follows a producer, directors, composers, editors, writers, and actors to Hollywood: some succeeded and many found no work. Among those profiled are Erich Pommer, Joseph May, Ernst Lubitsch, Fritz Lang, Billy Wilder, and Peter Lorre. Once in Hollywood, these exiles helped each other, housed new arrivals, and raised money so others could escape. Some worked on anti-Nazi films, like Casablanca. The themes and lighting of German Expressionism gave rise in Hollywood to film noir.

Evidence of these terror weapons and incredible defensive structures are spread all across Europe, if you know where to look. Nazi Megastructures revisits significant historical locations to reveal the fascinating personal stories of the men who designed, built and operated these terrifying megastructures that still stand or exist today. Structured explored include: the Eagle’s Nest, a lavish tea house designed for Hitler to entertain guests and dignitaries high above his Alpine retreat in Bavaria, the fortified buildings constructed on the Channel Islands when this British territory came under German occupation. This truly fascinating series shows how these structures of the past remain today as poignant reminders of the terror they once held.
