Why you are always stressed out and why you should stop being stressed out
Many of us are unaware of the seriousness of the problem of stress. We live in a semi-permanent state of anxiety and excitement, but the shocking thing is that we act as if this is okay, even as if it's normal. After all, everyone else we know is stressed too, so how can it be a big deal. However, stress is a very serious problem that will not only prevent you from fully enjoying your life in the short term, but can make you seriously ill over time.

Where does stress come from?

You don't have to look far to find the source of all this stress in our modern lives. Anything that causes stress is what we call a "stressor," and these are all around us, all the time. Some are physical, while others are mental. Think of the way you start your day: waking up suddenly in pitch darkness, to a beeping sound. Did you know that we choose beeping for alarms because it doesn't sound natural? That means your brain goes on red alert and sends panic signals by releasing cortisol and adrenaline in your body. You've just woken up and are probably already suffering from whiplash. Then you rush to get ready, heart racing as you worry about what will happen if you're late, and perhaps dread whatever stressful thing you have to handle that day at the office. Then you head out for your commute, with people walking past you and walking toward you. Horns honk, smoke is thick in the air, and billboards flash before your eyes. All of these things, competing for your attention.
