Comprising the seven albums originally released by Sun Records prior to and after Johnny Cash's departure to Columbia Records, this well-assembled seven-CD boxed set features the original releases' artwork as well as a wealth of outtakes and alternate mixes. Including a nearly complete inventory of Cash's Sun recordings, this limited edition collection features well-known songs like "Big River," the lesser-known "Mean-Eyed Cat" and "You're My Baby" (the latter ruefully recalled by Cash as one of the worst songs he ever wrote), and welcome versions of popular Cash songs without the often-syrupy overdubbed backing vocals that purist fans love to hate.
