Vadim Repin - Sofia Gubaidulina - Dialog Ich und Du; The Wrath of God; The Light of the End (2021)

Cet album monographique publié par Deutsche Grammophon frappe fort avec cet hommage à la compositrice Sofia Goubaïdoulina à l’occasion de son quatre-vingt-dixième anniversaire. Trois œuvres récentes sont enregistrées ici, en première mondiale, par l’Orchestre du Gewandhaus de Leipzig sous la direction d’Andris Nelsons, grand admirateur de la musique à la fois intellectuelle, spirituelle et sensuelle de la grande compositrice russe. Alors assistante de Chostakovitch, Goubaïdoulina compose en 1959 une Symphonie de chambre très appréciée par le compositeur soviétique qui l’encourage à continuer dans cette voie. Mais il faudra attendre les années 1980 pour que son œuvre commence à être perçue sur un plan international, grâce à des interprètes comme Gidon Kremer, le Quatuor Arditti ou encore Sir Simon Rattle.
En 2018, Sofia Goubaïdoulina écrit Ich und du (« Moi et toi »), son troisième concerto pour violon, composé pour le virtuose Vadim Repin en référence au chef-d’œuvre éponyme du philosophe Martin Buber publié en 1923. À la fois philosophique et théologique, ce livre parle de l’Altérité en tant que dimension essentielle de toute vie humaine. Goubaïdoulina met cette dualité en musique sous la forme d’un puissant dialogue au-delà des mots entre le violon solo et l’orchestre.
