The Beatles - River Rhine Tapes (2005)

At the end of 1968, when internal disagreements among the Beatles put them before a choice: to change something or diverge, Paul came up with the idea of ​​returning (“Get Back”) to what had united the Liverpool four - to live performances. Many different options were discussed, but it was decided to stop on a TV presentation in front of a small audience at the Twickenham film studio, where Hey Jude's promotional video had been shot before.
This was the beginning of the most difficult and destructive "enterprise" of The Beatles, which received the name "The Get Back Sessions". On January 2, 1969, having gathered at a film studio, John, Ringo and George suddenly announced to Paul that they were not going to follow his lead, and after a little scandal no one knew what to do next. Dennis O'Dell, the producer of the TV show, saved the situation and suggested that the guys just film the rehearsals to subsequently include this material in the 60-minute Beatles At Work documentary, which was supposed to be aired either shortly before or immediately after "main" show.
O'Dell decided to shoot in a "reporting" style, several cameras were set up, and sound was recorded on Nagra two-track tape recorders, which in those years were widely used both on television and in movies, since it allowed recording a sync signal, which subsequently used when applying sound to an image - these are the “beeps” that are heard from time to time on the recording. In order to avoid losses, recording was carried out immediately on 2 tape recorders - the length of a quarter-inch roll of the heater was only 16 minutes, and the film was changed alternately. So there were 2 sets of tapes - "Roll A" and "Roll B", later known as "AB Tapes".
