“I will never be good at guitar,” said one of my students.
Even though he practiced every day, he was still struggling and seemed to have plateaued.
At this point, he was frustrated and I was deeply discouraged because I couldn't find a way to fill in the gaps for him.
He knew his basic chords and could strum well enough when shown a pattern, yet he couldn’t get through the valley of learning to the peaks of jamming.
I began asking myself: ‘What does it take to become a confident guitar player?’ ‘Why do some people simply get it and are able to enjoy the instrument while others get stuck and can’t seem to grasp it?’
Through countless interviews with real guitarists and hundreds of hours of giving guitar lessons, I realized the difference between a confident guitarist and a guitar player that constantly hits plateaus comes down to the ability to master five core elements.
We call these five core elements: The STRUM Method. (And no, it’s not just about strumming!)
