Being An Astronomer: Third Edition

This book gets you started on your astronomical journey through the solar system and beyond to local galaxies. It shows you how to use binoculars and telescopes to observe the Moon, Sun, planets, meteors, comets, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. It introduces some of the constellations that you can use to navigate your way around the night sky. It contains many photos, taken with modest equipment that show how objects appear to astronomers with beginner-level telescopes. It shows you how to focus on objects and how to use telescope mounts, using photographs. It contains solar system data up to the end of 2022 to help you find celestial objects and the best time to see them.

It also describes the steps you can take after being a beginner.

The third edition contains annotated photographs of more constellations and descriptions of the Lyrid meteor shower. There are more photographs of meteors, the Moon and Venus.
