Innovations and challenges of the energy transition in smart city districts

Climate change represents one of the greatest challenges facing society in the 21st century: if greenhouse gas emissions are not effetively limited, the consequences of climate change will affect all areas of human life. The breach of international law due to the war of Russia against Ukraine and the corresponding geo-political consequences mean that the energy transition is becoming even more relevant. A climate-neutral energy system is also becoming increasingly important against the backdrop of a need for greater independence from fossil fuel imports while simultaneously ensuring a secure supply of electricity and heat.
