A very special "summit meeting": U.S. saxophonist Harry Allen meets Cologne pianist Martin Sasse at Basel's "Bird's Eye."

The one is one of the hottest swing and mainstream saxophonists in the USA, has traveled around the world and ennobled countless CDs with his virtuoso playing. The other is one of the outstanding jazz pianists in Europe, playing with genre legends from Al Foster to Charlie Mariano or world stars like Bobby McFerrin or Sting. Now their brilliant playing can be heard and enjoyed on their first joint album. Together with Markus Schieferdecker (bass) and Joost Van Schalk (drums) as an exquisite rhythm section, they fill the space with compositions from their own pens that are as subtly as they are complexly interpreted, but also with a clever selection of the very finest standards.

What unites the four is their deep affection for the melodies of the swing era as well as the mainstream jazz of the 50s and 60s. Together they dive into relaxed, yet highly intense atmospheric images, sometimes rhythmically furious, sometimes in pure balladic beauty. Sasse and Allen's own compositions fit in organically, shifting tempos, moods and atmospheres in ever new and sophisticated ways, swinging and grooving, straight and cool, soulful and sensitive - a captivating mixture of blues- and swing-saturated suspended matter!
