Series: Religion & Society in South Asia Series

Most of the contributions to the present volume are modified versions of papers delivered at a panel organized in connection with the proceedings of the 13th European Conference on Modern South Asian Studies which was held in Toulouse, 31st. August-3rd. September 1994. Contributors came from Europe, Australia and North America as well as from South Asia. They are mostly concerned with the conversion of ‘Hindus’ and Muslims to Christianity though the collection also includes a paper on conversion and non-conversion experiences associated with Theosophy.

This book is a significant addition to the growing tradition of scholarship on religious conversion and a valuable resource for scholars and students who are interested in religious, social, and cultural developments of South Asia.
