This volume is a full account of the scientific career of Helmut Ruska, Ernst Ruska’s brother, by H.R. Gelderblom and D.H, Kruger. This chapter is complemented by a completed list of publications from the Diisseldorf Institute for the years during which Helmut Ruska was director.
The next chapter, by N. Nešković, P. Belićev, I. Telečki and S. Petrović, describes a family of electrostatic ion lenses, known as rainbow lenses.
In the final chapter, we return to a subject that was treated many years ago in these Advances in a quite different context. Here B. Adcock, A. Hansen, B. Roman and G. Teschke describe the use of generalised sampling in inverse problems.
