[Login to see the link] - thx for your suggestions :
- didn't try Allavsoft VideoDownloader yet - portable v. here does show VirusTotal 6 hits -
although it comes with a serial key - didn't check the installer v. here - also don't know how much
a Trial version will dL.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- VideoDownloadHelper asked for downloadhelper.coapp to be installed to take care of the dL,
so I did that - and it did catch the video stream and dL'd it ok.
The 'problem' I ran into next - after having to leave the computer for awhile - is that the next attempt
on the next video gives the 'error-prompt' :
"Premium status required - Without Premium status, an HLS download
can only be performed 120 minutes after the previous one" = $12 or $16 lifetime sub?
So now I'm also learning about HLS streaming, and I appreciate knowing a little more
about this part of the tech each day!
So - is this app approach reliable enough to pay for? The amount is trivial compared to my time
to configure SnagIt real-time capture each time, but I don't want to pay for something that ultimately doesn't cut it.

! yt-dlp - - this was interesting - I ran it natively cmd-line style 1st, and it only dL'd 3 minutes of an 18 min video.
Then I studied a couple YouTube vids & dL'd/ran the yt-dlp GUI + ffmpeg setup,
and it still only dL'd 3 minutes worth - but the GUI does offer multiple visible options -
there was an entry space in the GUI that seemed to accept Time parameters - so I attempted to input 00:00 - 18:00
but that didn't make any difference - it still only dL'd a 3 minute version using the GUI.
So after studying a little more about HLS streaming - it seems like yt-dlp only caught the 1st 'frame/packet'
of 3 minutes - vs however many more packets.
Then when I ran DownloadHelper again and ended up dL a index.m3u8 file - opened it in Notepad++:
This long file shows 184 packets? name/a.mp4/seg-1-v1-a1.ts ..... a.mp4/seg-184-v1-a1.ts
So that's where I'm at now - maybe pay the $$ for DownloadHelper Premium?
Anyway - appreciate helps so far, and open to more!
