Lrdfrx - Can you explain a bit more about your interest in commit-management as it relates to IoT?
It may be my lack of knowledge on the topic; however, I wasn't entirely sure how the two are related or precisely your interest. For that reason, I hoped that asking the question might help you get more answers from the community.
Also, I don't know, but I suspect there is probably an active Reddit or FB group where you will get much more experienced people due to Win IoT being a somewhat less common topic.
Also - I agree entirely with [Login to see the link] (as usual, any time it doesn't involve politics lol) -- the money is definitely on the side of IoT in general, without tying yourself too tightly to Windows.
If you are the type of person that prefers Windows because of Visual Studio or because it's where you've typically coded, just know that very little is different when at the IoT level. You'll still work almost entirely in Windows and you'll barely realize that your code is executing on a Linux/Android system.
Plus, even if you don't want to get involved in embedded operating systems, you'll have to get comfortable with microcontrollers that are also severely limited by RAM/libraries that can be included. For this reason alone, I don't think you'll notice much difference or have a more substantial learning-curve by investing more time in the area where the most work lies.
That's just my opinion on the chance it will help you expand your market or earn more money. I certainly could be wrong, but I think it's worth considering!
