Yes, yes, yes.... I know...
USA = Bad ... Ukraine Gov't = Bad ... [etc]
People can go on, and on... Especially in the nations with a great deal of anti-American media where "the West" is always believed to be behind nearly everything bad on Earth.
Fortunately none of that relates to my point.
Here's a task for you ... Find me one superpower in the world that you believe to be "good". Furthermore, the larger the economy, the more leverage and license a country has to exploit, corrupt, or ultimately hurt others.
This fundamental premise cannot be denied.
Therefore, to all of the people that hate the United States ...or... believe Ukraine represents the West ...or... prefer to talk about governments rather than their citizens -- I ask you, which superpower would be more benevolent if occupying the same position of the world's superpower?
China is the runner-up; they've clearly demonstrated they are far less concerned about human rights or independence among nations.
Japan follows, with a population consisting of some of the highest standards of integrity and the most successful nation considering their land-mass/natural resources. Yet... Do you believe Japan's government is consequentially less corrupt than any other? Or that somehow as the world's number one economy, they would be benevolent?
Also, while bashing the United States, remind me of all the times they fought wars on foreign-soil, to overtake a sovereign nation and annex that nation into the United States (aka land grab). To take that nation and make it part of the United States? I'm not claiming the U.S. is perfect, but ... Be realistic, at least.
Tibet is potentially the most peaceful major land-mass on our planet. Did that stop China?
With more influence comes more corruption. Worse yet, with more influence, comes more people that despise you -- and more people that dream-up conspiracy theories about you. This is true with power in any context; people, business, nations.
It's like the old adage that "MacOS software doesn't get viruses like Windows" .. anyone with a grade-school education can tell you that's comical, at best. The truth was that the number of MacOS systems were not worthy of writing viruses. Whether in evolution or techn -- by definition -- a virus needs to spread by infecting the largest population.
Simply put, the larger the population of MacOS users, the larger the likelihood of viruses being written/distributed on the platform.
With this, I hope we can stop the off-topic political comments, such as:
"But, but .. this-or-that nation is corrupt .. therefore it's okay for millions of citizens to go through hell-on-earth."
This isn't a post to discuss politics, if that is your preference, best to discuss elsewhere.
This is a post voicing support for Ukraine, and concerned about the situation our world is in, regardless of "whose fault" it is.
For the context of this post, any attempt to blame/criticize other governments only detracts from the point.
