Compensating the Publishers?
Experts often say, there is this finesse which differentiates the stuff inside our cranium from other animals.
But sometimes, we all fall prey to our animalistic basal behaviour. We refuse to look at basal data.
Data that states how C2H5OH affects us.
Data that tells us How C2H5OH is made?
Here's a DIY for you:
Randomly select a couple of Chemistry books targeting higher secondary students (across the world).
All these books have the same set of processes for making C2H5OH.
All these Chemistry books have the similar or same definition of atom / neutron / electron.
All these Chemistry books have the same set of valence electrons for the Carbon atom.
They all have the same data spread over ten thousand sentences, give or take 20 percent based on syllabus of their local region. But an atom still is an atom.
However, some Chemistry books are priced two dollars (in some countries) and $200 in other countries. Change the subject to Physics or Biology with similar effects.
What Gives?
The pricing of knowledge, has been random, ridiculous and outright blashphemous. They are not commensurate to knowledge in the first place. Some will argue it is the cost of paper and publishing cost.
Publishing cost
Today, most publishing houses outsource to 3rd world countries to take advantage of labor arbitrage. Be it typesetting, or printing or binding, production cost is as minimal as a competitor's two dollar book.
Even the Project's functional managers are hired offshore to offset cost ([Login to see the link]).
Authors Compensation (from Publishers)
Using sanet, randomly pick "authors" from a hundred books published this year and another set from year 2000. Increasingly, authors are being picked from 3rd world countries aka labor arbitrage.
Thus, there is not enough data that says if I pay $200 for a book, the author would get a equitable cut. But there's data that says there's no correlation between the effort put in by a author and a book's cost. A price of a product is a "perceived" value but a salary (or payment) to an author is based on regional labor arbitrage.
Existing data has proved that Publishers have already profited beyond redemption (I can give more data points but thats taking the discussion to a different level)
Right now, we all can (if we want to) have hours long technical discussion with [Login to see the link] on how much HR is leaving a BH and how the EH itself is non-deterministic thus proving that our world 2nd law is more probable and provable at EH.
All, thanks to stuff from Sanet. Sanet is spreading knowledge at a much equitable cost.
So No. You cannot extrapolate my sentence to compensate Publishers. Vermins would sue me for incosiderations.
